Privacy policy

This policy explains how Hong Kong Maper ("we") collects, uses and keeps your personal data, in line with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong.

1. What we collect

  • Name, phone number, delivery address, email address and order details you give us when ordering or contacting us.
  • Payment status and transaction reference. Card and payment details are handled directly by our payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal, etc.); we never store full card numbers.
  • Technical data generated when you browse, such as device type, browser and pages viewed.

2. Why we use it

  • To process orders: payment, printing, packing and delivery.
  • To answer enquiries and handle after-sales issues (damage, wrong item, reprint).
  • To keep transaction records required by law.
  • To improve the site and our product descriptions.

3. Who we share it with

Only where needed for the purposes above: Shopify (store platform and hosting), SF Express (delivery), payment providers (payment), and email/messaging providers (notifications and support). We do not sell your personal data.

4. How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for 7 years for accounting and tax purposes; enquiry records for 12 months after resolution. Other data is deleted when no longer needed.

5. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold (except records we must keep by law). Email info@hongkongmaper.org with "Data request" in the subject line; we reply within 40 days.

6. Direct marketing

We do not use your personal data to send you marketing messages without your consent. If you have opted in, you can withdraw at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or emailing us, free of charge.

7. Cookies

The site uses cookies needed to keep your cart and login working, plus analytics cookies to understand how pages are used. You can block cookies in your browser, though cart and checkout may stop working.

9. Updates

Last updated: October 2026. We will publish any material changes on this page.

8. Where product images come from, and who owns them

Images used in our products come from different sources and are not all government-owned: some come from data.gov.hk open data, used commercially under its Terms of Use, with intellectual property belonging to the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and the relevant organisations; some are our own designs, photographs or scans; others are used under other licences or are in the public domain. The source and rights status of each product's image is stated on that product page. Apart from the rights holders named there, we claim no copyright in third-party images.
